BT: Founding and company history
Since its founding in 1946 by Ivan Lundquist, the BT brand, founded in Sweden, has been a pioneer of innovation and quality. BT's initial business consisted of importing equipment for the construction and transport sectors. The production of BT pallet trucks began in 1947 and in the 1950s the range was expanded to include electric forklifts. The now known and standardized EUR pallet is a revolutionary success for BT and thus initiated the economic breakthrough.
The BT brand, part of Toyota since the beginning of 2001, stands for solid products in the field of material handling technology such as lifting beams, forklifts, pedestrian trucks, reach trucks, tractors and more. Since 2007, BT forklifts have been sold by Toyota Material Handling Deutschland GmbH, which continues to maintain high quality with production at two locations in Germany. With the takeover of the US forklift manufacturer Raymond Corporation in 1997 and the Italian forklift specialist CESAB in April 2000, BT consolidated its position in the forklift market.
