The CLARK company, founded in 1917 as an axle manufacturer for the automotive industry, developed the first forklift truck in the same year. Originally this was only intended for internal material transport. Since visitors noticed the advantages of the forklift, they also ordered a forklift for their own use.
In 1919, 75 forklifts were built and sold. With plants in Germany, Asia, America, Brazil and other countries, CLARK is now one of the world's operating companies. The product portfolio extends to electric forklifts, pallet trucks, tractors, Pallet truck and forklifts with combustion engines.
The delivery of the 500,000th forklift to Western Michigan University in 1976 was a milestone for the company. This forklift was still in operation in 2019. The millionth forklift is on display today at the company's headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky and was manufactured in 1997.
The industrial trucks are different and diverse. They are used in retail, trade, industry and at logistics centers or ports. The range is correspondingly wide.
